Production[edit]

In April of 2021, Disney+ initiated the production of several British television series, among them "Culprits," a show slated to be penned and directed by J Blakeson. By August, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett was announced as the lead actor.

The production of the series kicked off in February 2021. The ensemble cast was expanded to include Gemma Arterton, Eddie Izzard, and Kirby Howell-Baptiste.

The filming locations for the series were diverse, spanning across Europe and Ontario, Canada. Notably, Cambridge, Ontario was selected as a key filming location, gaining recognition as a prominent site in southwestern Ontario.

In the UK, one of the filming locations was a house on Hickin street, creatively designed by Vandana Goyal of Studio 9 Architects, London.

Additional shooting for the series occurred in Manchester, UK, specifically on Dale Street and Paton Street, and in a park near Paradise Street in Rotherhithe, London. This phase of production took place in March 2022.

On March 23, 2022, the production team from Character 7 sectioned off parts of Little Lever Street and Bradley’s Court in Manchester's Northern Quarter. This was done in collaboration with the Greater Manchester Police. The filming process was visible to locals and residents of nearby apartment buildings. A notable scene filmed involved a S.W.A.T team engaging in a shootout with a car.

Prior to this event, Character 7 had distributed notices in the area, informing the residents about the upcoming filming activities, which included loud gunfire sounds and the screeching of a car. On the day of filming, the production team used a fire engine to wet the streets, creating the illusion of a rainy scene for the filming.
